First Visit
Your First Visit

On your first visit to our office, we have some brief paperwork for you to fill out. The paperwork will provide us with information about yourself and your health. Once the paperwork has been completed, you will have a chance to talk with Dr. Cunningham to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. After this preliminary consultation, Dr. Cunningham will take a detailed history and complete a thorough physical examination. This will allow Dr. Cunningham to accurately and quickly determine your actual problem. After the history and examination, Dr. Cunningham may recommend x-rays in order to further assess the nature of your problem. These x-rays will help rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan. Once the examination and all appropriate studies are completed, you will generally be given your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies.

Before you leave, you will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be done at home. This "home care" includes activities that will decrease your pain as fast as possible and eliminate the cause of your problem. Finally, your next appointment will be scheduled. This will usually be within 1-2 days. At this time Dr. Cunningham will explain in more detail the nature of your problem, your treatment options, your home care therapies and any office procedures.
